Although not widely practiced in the UK, tree bracing or 'cable bracing' is very popular in other countries. This service refers to the installation of a structural support system within the tree and can be carried out in certain circumstances when removal of the damaged branch or part would reduce the aesthetic value of the tree. Tree bracing is often used on weak, suspect branch unions or large extended branches that pose a risk to targets if they were to fall. There are a number of bracing systems available to us as professional arborists and all trees will require a thorough risk assessment before any bracing work is carried out – bracing is not a substitute for when the safety of the tree is in question.
